I would like to take a minute and share something you can do that will radically change your life forever. What I am about to share with you is something so simple that even a child can do it. It is something so powerful that it will launch you on the greatest adventure of exploration and discovery a human being can know. Living water, life abundant, peace without measure, joy unspeakable and full of glory, prosperity and purpose. This experience that I have in mind has the power to deliver you from enslavement to every sin. What I am about to share with you is something that is within the reach of every person, whether you are a new Christian or have been a Christian for many years—whether you are male or female, adult or child. What is that something? It can be summed up in three words--study the Bible!

Why is it so vital to study the Bible? Because the Bible is the living Word of God – the Bible is the most potent force of Truth ever scripted in history – the Bible is the infallible medium through which God reveals himself to humanity – the Bible is the Word, the Word is Christ, and Christ is Salvation.

Even Napoleon is quoted as saying, “The Bible is no mere book, but a living creature that conquers all who oppose it.”

"It is impossible to enslave mentally or socially a Bible-reading people. The principles of the Bible are the groundwork of human freedom." Horace Greeley, Anti slavery advocate

"The whole hope of human progress is suspended on the ever growing influence of the Bible." W.H. Seward

Here are seven ways that studying the Bible will transform your life:

One) Your prayers will be answered:

“If you abide in and my words abide in you ask what you will and I will do it for you.”  Jesus (John 15:7)

Two) God Reveals Himself through the Word.

“In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. (John 1:1)

If you love me you will keep my commandments and And I will love you and reveal myself to you. (John 14:21-23).

Three) Your mind will be renewed. “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” There is nothing better to eliminate negative, limiting thinking than by renewing your mind in the Word of God. It will literally transform your old thought habits.

Four) You will discover God’s will for you, your family, your nation and world:

Paul taught , “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.(Romans 12:1-2)

It is by meditating on the scriptures that we understand what God’s will is so we can obey it.

Five) You will experience Freedom like never before. You will become like Jesus and be made be made free every sin that holds you back.

Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. (Ephes 5:26-27)

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Cor. 3:18)

Six) Your faith will increase!

To the religious leaders who did not believe in Him, Jesus said,"Your problem is that you don't know the Scriptures, and you don't know the power of God.” (Mat 22:29) 

 Paul taught, ‘Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17)

7)You will be blessed

Blessed is the One who meditates in His law he day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. (Psalms 1)

“So commit yourselves completely to these words of mine. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting up again. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that as long as the sky remains above the earth, you and your children may flourish.” Deut.11:18-21

Look at your bible  the next time you hold it in your hand. It was purchased for you by the blood of  the martyrs and witnesses of Jesus. For attempting to translate its words into the language of the people and distribute it among men, people have been imprisoned, burnt at the stake, and hunted like common criminals. Wherever dictators and tyrants rule and educators want to erase the memory of God from the people, the bible has been banned. Something so feared must have something very powerful within its pages. Most Ameicans have four or five bibles in their house that sit on the shelf and never open them. Something is wrong with this picture.

Both Martin Luther and John Wesley—two great revivalists whose preaching changed the course of western civilization—had incredible things to say about the power of the Bible. Luther said:

For twenty-eight years, since I became a doctor, I have now constantly read and preached the Bible; and yet I have not exhausted it but find something new in it every day.

"You should diligently learn the Word of God and by no means imagine that you know it… I do not want to let the mildew of the notion grow that I know the scriptures well enough.

Luther, who knew the Bible inside and out, found that the revelation contained in the Bible was inexhaustible. 

John Wesley said the secret of the messages that he preached that changed the world came from the way he studied the bible.

At any price, give me the book of God! I sit down alone: only God is here. In His presence I open, I read His book. Is there a doubt concerning the meaning of what I read?  Lord you  have said, ‘If any be willing to do Your will, he shall know.’ I am willing to do, let me know, Your will.” I then search after and consider parallel passages of Scripture, “comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” I meditate on these with all the attention and earnestness of which my mind is capable…And what I learn, that I teach.

The reason that most people don’t seem to have this earthshaking experience with the Bible is because they read it without focus, and sporadically. John Calvin 16th century Reformer and theologian noticed the problem:

You will see a number of people who labor very hard indeed at reading the holy Scriptures.They do nothing else but turn over the leaves of it, and yet after ten years they have as much knowledge of it as if they had never read a single line. And why? Because they do not have any particular aim in view, they only wander about. (John Calvin, Sermon on Ephesians 2:19-22, 1559AD).

Many Christians live and die without enjoying their full inheritance as children of God. Like a water skier skimming over the surface of the river, they never dive down beneath the surface of things into the depths of the knowledge of God. There is a big difference between mowing the grass and taking a shovel and digging beneath the surface to find the buried treasure.

That’s why I am so excited to tell you about the importance of using our bible study books. These  books were designed in a workbook format so you can write in them and mark them up and write notes. Each bible study book is designed o help you slow down and think about what the scripture is saying and dig deep beneath the surface. We have used the Holy spirit’s method of  study and revelation by “comparing spiritual thoughts with spiritual words, scripture with scripture” (1 Cor. 2:13)  This is the same method applied by Wesley. You will journey throughout the biblical text to compare scriptures and see for yourself what the bible teaches. Once you focus your attention like a laser and go through the bible with purpose and structure, you will be blown away.

We encourage you to get these studies for  yourself, your friends and family, use them with your homegroups and in church bible studies.

It is our prayer that the Holy Spirit will use these study books to help light the way and guide you into a life full of god’s Presence and blessing.
